About This Experience
Perched at an altitude of 1,200 metres on a terraced mountainside in the Ourika Valley, this half-day yoga retreat offers a transformative wellness experience in a setting of such natural grandeur that every breath feels like a meditation. The retreat is held at a purpose-built eco-lodge where hand-cut stone terraces step down the mountainside, each one offering unobstructed views across the valley to the snow-capped peaks of the High Atlas -- a panorama so vast and beautiful that it arrests the mind and naturally draws awareness into the present moment. Your retreat begins at sunrise with a 90-minute vinyasa flow class led by a certified yoga teacher who has studied in Rishikesh and Bali and brings a decade of international teaching experience to her practice. The sequence is designed to honour the mountain setting: standing poses that ground you like the peaks themselves, balance postures that channel the steadiness of ancient stone, and backbends that open your heart to the limitless sky above. The terrace is open-air, with the mountain breeze and the sound of birdsong providing a natural soundtrack that no indoor studio could replicate. After savasana, you transition into a guided thirty-minute meditation practice using ancient Tibetan singing bowls and crystal bowls whose resonant frequencies promote deep relaxation and energetic rebalancing. The sound waves seem to merge with the mountain silence, creating a state of profound inner stillness. Following meditation, a generous organic brunch is served on the terrace: freshly baked breads, local honey, organic eggs, seasonal fruit, Moroccan salads, herbal infusions, and freshly squeezed juices made from valley-grown oranges and pomegranates. The retreat concludes with a session of pranayama (breath work) and a closing intention-setting practice that helps you carry the mountain's stillness with you as you return to the world below.
